Welcome to Black Dog Cattle Company
Home of Bruce & Carol Giese
It all started in 1923 by August Giese, he established and started farming on 160 acres south of Stony Plain Alberta, along the beautiful North Saskatchewan river. August Giese went through the troubles and tribulations of the dirty thirties and as time went on, my parents Harvey and Evelyn Giese took over the farm and moved into the beef industry, they also established Giese Quarter Horses in the mid 1970’s. Harvey started with cutting horses as a hobby and it turned into a career in the cutting horse industry. He raised and rode the famous horse named Peppy Canita San out of Peppy San & and won world and Canadian reserved championship. On the Giese farm we also show in halter, reigning and barrel competitions.
Now the 3rd generation are slowly taking over the farm and we are moving forward with beef and grain on 1,300 acres of land. Our new venture here on the Giese farm is raising rough stock for the Rodeo industry. We have the bloodlines of #236 Mud Flap & #650 Hammer Down. We are also scouting out more great bloodlines as time goes on. We are also incorporating some Texas Long Horns into our beef bloodlines. My wife Carol raises Rottweilers a breed she has loved for many years. She has bred some great dogs from German and Serbian bloodlines. There is always a cute little puppy around the farm to cuddle and love. You can have a look at her beautiful dogs at www.rottweiler4u.com
We are not a big farm operation in the agriculture industry, we believe in quality not quantity and we are always willing to learn and listen to something new. Come around and visit us here on the Giese farm, we always enjoy good company and conversation.
